Magnet Prize Program

The 2024 ANCC Magnet Prize  Nominations for 2024 have closed.  Nominations for 2025 will open in the Spring.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is proud to launch the 2024 ANCC Magnet Prize , sponsored by Press Ganey, a leading Human Experience platform for healthcare. By sponsoring the ANCC Magnet Prize with its $125,000.00 purse, Press Ganey is committed to ANCC's focus on promoting innovation in nursing.

Established in 2002 by the ANCC Board of Directors, the ANCC Magnet Prize is presented to a Magnet designated organization whose nursing team spearheads initiative(s) including those in healthcare delivery and research leading to exemplary innovation in patient care services . ANCC presents the Magnet Prize during the ANCC National Magnet Conference . The 2024 ANCC Magnet Prize winning organization will have one year to further develop its innovative program or project after which they will return the following year to present their program/project outcomes during the ANCC National Magnet Conference .

Nominations are evaluated by a blinded peer review process conducted by a committee of national nursing leaders that includes members of the Commission on Magnet Recognition Program and the ANCC Board of Directors, as well as Chief Nursing Officers (CNOs) from prior Magnet Prize-winning organizations.

2024 Nominating organizations will be notified of their results no later than August 28, 2024.  Notifications will be posted from the nominating platform to those organizations whose nominee was not selected.

Eligibility Criteria

Only one nomination is accepted each year from a given Magnet designated organization regardless of size, setting, or location. The Magnet Prize is awarded to a single organization - Only one organization and that organization s nurses are recognized as recipients of the Magnet Prize. Magnet Prize recipient organizations are prohibited from submitting another Magnet Prize nomination for two years following their recognition. The nominated organization must be currently designated Magnet and in good standing through October 31, 2025 Online Submission Steps and Instructions:

Award Attestation

Read and acknowledge the Eligibility Criteria and attest to requirements of the Magnet Prize.

NOTE: Any "no" answers to the attestation will result in disqualification

The nominating individual and/or CNO attests/warrants that:

Nominated organization is currently designated Magnet and in good standing through October 31, 2025. Only one nomination has been submitted for this organization. Nominated organization has not been awarded the Magnet Prize in the past two years.
Disclosure of material submitted with or in support does not breach the terms of any other contract or agreements, that s/he is entitled to use the material, and that if any permissions are needed to use the material, s/he has obtained those permissions. Organization's compliance officer and/or legal counsel have been consulted to ensure that the organization is not prohibited from accepting the Magnet Prize Award or any related benefit.
S/he has read and acknowledges the eligibility criteria and attests to the requirements of the Magnet Prize. If selected, the organization CNO will be present to accept the award at the ANCC National Magnet Conference . If selected, the organization CMO will attend the Magnet Prize reception. If selected, the organization agrees to use the language "ANCC Magnet Prize , sponsored by Press Ganey" in all references to the Magnet Prize.

 

Magnet Model Component

The nomination must be assigned to and be relevant to one of the five Magnet  Model Components.

Title

The title of the nomination for the ANCC Magnet Prize must be provided.

People

For the nominating individual and CNO (if different from the nominating individual):

Provide name, credentials, title, affiliation, and contact information. The Nominating individual and CNO must be listed on the nomination, with contact information.

Documentation for Nomination must

Describe the PROBLEM or NEED which was or is exprected to be addressed with/impacted by the extraordinary innovation. (50 word of less) Describe the innovation- defined as the application of creativity or problem solving that results in a widely adapted strategy, product, or service to meet te need in a new and different way. (250 words or less) Describe how the innovation is extraordinary and creative in meeting the need of the organization in a new and different way. (150 words or less) Describe how nursing initiated the innovation and the interprofessional staff who were involved in developing the innovation. (150 words or less) Describe how the innovation demonstrates the impact of nursing in the organization. (200 words or less) Describe the innovative program's/project's progress to date and expectations for the future OR, if the program/project does not currently exist, the expected timeline of the innovative program's/project's development and implementation (150 word or less) Describe the existing and/or projected benefits of implementing the innovation. (200 words or less) Describe how the innovation has transformed or has the potential to transform nursing practice and health care nationally and/or internationally.  Include how the innovation is enduring and able to be replicated in other settings. (250 words or less) Include Supporting Evidence to demonstrate the innovation and/or outcome(s) described in the nomination.  (Two (2) uploaded documents):
Uploaded document that demonstrated the measure(s) of effectiveness and/or performance target(s) used to assess the impact of the innovation (e.g., outcome measure(s) to demonstrated improvement in quality, cost effectiveness, or efficiency); include graphed data. (no more than two (2) pages and in .pdf format). Uploaded annotated bibliography that reflects the literature review and documents how this project/program is different from pasts efforts. (no more than two (2) pages in .pdf form)

You will have a chance to look over the submission to make sure all is complete before submitting the nomination.

The nomination portal  details all nomination information and guides nominators through the submission process step-by-step. Nominators will have a chance to look over the submission to make sure all is complete before submitting the nomination.

Nominations for the ANCC Magnet Prize may be submitted by any representative of a Magnet organization who is familiar and can describe with the innovation and associated outcome(s). Nominators must complete and submit nominations through the online submission website. The online nomination submission website details specific instructions on the preparation of the nomination and supplemental material and walks nominators through the submission process step-by-step.

Please Note:

The ANCC Magnet Prize Committee will only review completed nominations.
"Blind"all references made to submitting organization in the description of the innovation. ANCC will notify all winners no later than August 28, 2024.

 

Rules

The nomination must be from a Magnet designated organization. Only one nomination may be submitted for this organization. The nominated organization has not been awarded the Magnet Prize in the past two (2) years. Previously recognized orgniaztions are excluded from eligibility for 24 months. The nomination must be relevant to one of the five Magnet Model Components. The nominating individual warrants that disclosure of material submitted with or in support of the nomination does not breach the terms of any other contract or agreements, that s/he is entitled to use the material, and that if any permissions are needed to use the material, s/he has obtained those permissions. The nomination individual warrants: The organization is not prohibited from accepting the Magnet Prize or any other related benefit. The organization's compliance office and/or legal counsel have been consulted and that the organization is not prohibited from accepting the Magnet Prize or any related benefit. One hundred percent of the award money will be used for the development and implementation of the innovation. The organization will attend the Magnet Conference and Magnet Prize reception if the organization is selected as the winner. The organization will use the language "ANCC Magnet Prize , sponsored by Press Ganey" in all references to the Magnet Prize. The organization must notify the ANCC Magnet Prize Committee immediately if the organization is unable to accept the Magnet Prize and/or related obligations and benefits. Member(s) of the recognized organization must be present to accept the award at the ANCC National Magnet Conference  . Magnet Prize recipients will be asked to provide a brief overview of their project when recognized during the Magnet Conference. The recognized organization member(s) will attend the Magnet Prize reception. The Magnet Prize recipient will agree to use"ANCC Magnet Prize , sponsored by Press Ganey" in all references made to the Prize.
Approximately six months after recognition, the organization will be required to submit an accounting to ANCC of how the award money is being utilized. An ANCC Executive or designee will join a Press Ganey nursing executive on a visit to the Magnet Prize-winning organization and  will return to the Magnet Conference the following year to deliver a short presentation on the innovation during a general session in accord with ANCC Conference procedures.  Winners must agree to work with ANCC to prepare the presentation prior to the Magnet Conference.

The Magnet Prize Committee will consider only properly submitted applications and materials submitted with or in support thereof.

The decision of the Magnet Prize committee is final. Materials submitted with or in support of any nomination shall be received on the condition that: The Magnet Prize Committee shall have permission to use and display submitted materials in any manner it deems appropriate and not to return such material or any portion thereof to the nominating individual(s). The Magnet Prize Committee may make such material as the Committee deems appropriate.
No claim shall be made, and no action shall be brought against the American Nurses Credentialing Center, its board of directors, employees, or members of the Magnet Prize Committee arising out of the use made of such nomination material or of any such disclosure. The Magnet Prize Committee will not return such material or any portion thereof to the nominee or the nominators.

The Magnet Prize

The Press Ganey-sponsored ANCC Magnet Prize monetary award in the amount of one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000) to further develop and advance the organization s innovative project. Complimentary full conference registration for up to three attendees from the Magnet Prize winning organization. Invitation to an exclusive Press Ganey-sponsored recognition event for Magnet Prize recipients.
